Lukas Graham’s ‘7 Years’ Charging to Third Week at No. 1 in U.K.

Lukas Graham’s “7 Years” (Warner Bros) is expected to stick around for at least a third week at No. 1 in the U.K.

The Danish soul-pop group is “way ahead” in the race for the chart title, according to the Official Charts Company. They’re enjoying a boost after performing the song on ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show last Saturday and at the midway stage of the chart cycle, they’ve clocked up more than 53,000 chart sales.

Meanwhile, Jonas Blue and Dakota’s cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” (Positiva) improves 4-2 on the Official Singles Chart Update Top 100, while Rihannaand Drake’s “Work” (Roc Nation) is stationary at No. 3, Zayn’s former chart-topper “Pillowtalk” (RCA) drops 2-4; while another former No. 1, Shawn Mendes’ “Stitches” (EMI), holds at No. 5.

Other high-risers on the midweek chart include Coldplay’s “Hymn For The Weekend” (Parlophone), which improves 17-10; and singer-songwriter Mike Posner’s “I Took A Pill In Ibiza” (Island), which soars 57-16.

Following her appearance in the passenger seat for James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke”, Sia’s “Chandelier” (Monkey Puzzle/RCA) soars 72-27.

On the albums chart update, Jack Garratt is out in front with his debut set Phase(Island). The BRIT Awards Critics’ Choice winner is nearly 3,000 chart sales ahead of Adele’s 25 (XL), the No. 2-ranked album at the midweek point.

The Top 5 on the Official Singles Chart Update Top 100 is completed by David Bowie’s Best Of Bowie (Rhino), which drops 2-3; Justin Bieber’s Purpose (Def Jam), which slips 3-4; and Coldplay’s A Head Full Of Dreams, which is unchanged at No. 5.

Veteran Irish singer Daniel O’Donnell is on track for his 33rd Top 40 album with The Best Of Music And Memories (DMG TV) which is at No. 13, while Australian rockersWolfmother is vying for its third Top 40 album with Victorious (UMC), which appears at No. 17. Its just one place ahead of Sia’s 2014 album release 1000 Forms Of Fear, which jumps 36-18 thanks in part to her stint on Corden’s Late Late Show.
