The Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) is waiting on Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw to meet with it concerning the new school term now set to begin January 18.
“Only yesterday [Sunday] I was in meeting with the ministry where we were discussing the guidelines for online teaching and the document is to be forwarded to the union. We will have a meeting [today]to discuss that,” said BUT general secretary Herbert Gittens.
“We are hoping the minister will meet with us soon as most people are still waiting on the minister to outline to the country the plans for this term,” he said ahead of last night’s televised press briefing by Bradshaw.
Meanwhile, Herbert, who is principal of Wesley Hall Junior School, said his main concern there was parents getting behind their children and making sure they took part in the online classes. (CA)
