Teachers and administrators are just as at risk of contracting the dreaded coronavirus (Covid-19) as health and port workers, says Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw.
This was why her ministry was taking steps to ensure teachers are well aware of the measures they need to take to protect themselves and their charges.
“The Ministry of Education is working closely with both the ministries of Tourism and of Health concerning the coronavirus. Quite recently we had a session with the Ministry of Health about frontline workers and we believe just as how the workers at the airport and seaport are frontline workers, similarly, our teachers and administrators interfacing with students also become front line workers as well.
“Therefore it is important we engage them in discussions in what are the signs they must look for, and what are the response mechanisms in place in order to address students who they suspect come to school and may present these particular type of symptoms,” she said. (CA)
