Barbados has lost one of its most prominent educators.
Former Principal of the Barbados Community College, Norma Holder has died at the age of 79.
Her husband, Chairman of LIAT Jean Holder, has confirmed to local media that she passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital after a brief illness.
Holder’s career as an education span two countries, as the Jamaican born educator worked both in Barbados and England.
She was the principal of the Barbados Community College (BCC) for 35-years, after starting as a chemistry and mathematics tutor there.
She repeatedly spoke about her love for teaching and expressed the satisfaction she experienced from helping to train persons for life.
