House told SSA no longer in debt

The Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) is no longer in debt to Sustainable Barbados Recycling Centre (SBRC).

At one point, that debt was more than $30 million.

And instead of having to fork out more than $2 million a month to the waste processing facility at Vaucluse, St Thomas, Government has been able to renegotiate the fee down to $1 million monthly.

This was disclosed by the SSA’s acting general manager Janice Jones, as she spoke in the Well of the House of Assembly during the 2020 Estimates Debate at the Worthing Corporate Centre, Christ Church, on Wednesday.
