The region has lost a great champion in Harold Hoyte, says Chief Executive Officer of One Caribbean Media (OCM) Dawn Thomas. “Harold was both a champion for Press freedom and regional unity. His contributions on both fronts were immense and invaluable”, says Thomas, in her tribute on the passing of Hoyte earlier today.
Thomas spoke of the wealth of wisdom she gained from Hoyte, over the years and his many words of encouragement during challenging times.
“He will be sincerely missed but his remarkable legacy will live on,” she says of the founder of the Nation Publishing Co Limited and former Editor Emeritus up until his death.
Chief Executive Officer of The Nation Group Anthony Shaw offered condolences to Hoyte’s family, including son Bobby and daughter Tracy.
“Harold was the emotional and intellectual vision of the Nation newspaper. As the ultimate journalist, Harold was unbiased and always committed to holding all accountable.
“Even though retired, Harold willingly offered his guidance to all across the Nation Group.
“Rest in peace Harold, you will be remembered as a builder of the country and to the Nation Group,” says Shaw.
