Rihanna Delays Anti Tour Start Date Due to Production Problems

Rihanna has pushed back her concert dates for her Anti tour.

PEOPLE can confirm that the Barbadian singer has postponed her start date by two weeks due to production problems.

In addition, Rihanna, 27, has rescheduled eight dates for May including gigs in San Diego, Oakland, San Jose, Houston, Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, Phoenix and New Orleans.

The 8-time Grammy winner was slated to kick off her 40-date concert series on Feb. 26 in San Diego. Her tour will now begin on March 12 in Jacksonville, Florida.

“Based on Rihanna’s examination, after Grammy rehearsal today, Rihanna’s doctor put her on vocal rest for 48 hours because she was at risk of hemorrhaging her vocal chords,” a rep for the singer told PEOPLE. “The antibiotics she has been on for three days did not kill the infection adequately; therefore, she cannot perform safely.”

The “Work” singer will start in North America with special guest Travi$ Scott then will travel to Europe in June with Big Sean and The Weeknd.
